Mainz (archeology environment) - Among the short address http://web.rgzm.de/36.html attributes the "Museum of Ancient Navigation" of the "Roman-Germanic Central Museum in Mainz ( RGZM to find). The focus of the Museum of Ancient Shipping "five Roman military ships are from the late 3rd and 4th Century AD, were discovered during excavation for the 1981/1982 extension of the Mainz "Hilton Hotels". Two of the ships have been recreated in 1:1 scale with all details and to visit next to the originals. Unique in Germany, "Museum of Ancient Shipping" offers on the latest research results based insights into the fleet being the Roman Empire, in their duties in peace time and in the shipbuilding industry in Roman times. Visitors can watch the workshop staff in the production of antique ship models.
